Ernie Engan obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Ernie A. Engan, 59, of Dorchester, Iowa, died Monday, July 18, 2022, at his home. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon, Iowa. Graveside services will follow at Big Canoe Cemetery in rural Decorah, Iowa.

Ernie Alvie Engan was born August 2, 1962, in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Ernest Edward and Juanita Marie (Emery) Engan. He attended Dorchester School and Waukon High School. Ernie did some farming in the Dorchester area, worked for Blair-Fuehrer Manufacturing in Dorchester as a welder, and worked for JB Holland Construction in Decorah. Ernie enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoyed working on tractors, lawn mowers, and Chevy trucks, spending time in the outdoors cutting wood, and working in his garden.

Survivors include his fiancée Dana Hefte of Dorchester, Iowa; his children Kevin (Emily) Engan of Eitzen, Minn., and Allie (Ben) Reburn of New Albin, Iowa; his grandchildren Rylee, Lincoln, and Lauren Engan; his step-grandchildren Haley Brauer and Sylver Stoen and their mother Brittany Hefte (Tony Stoen) of Dorchester; his siblings Wayne (Sandy) Engan of Spring Grove, Minn., Troy (Kim) Engan of Highlandville, Iowa, Connie Urell of Spring Grove, and Kim (Rick) Crawford of Dorchester; and several nieces, nephews, and lots of very close friends he considered family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Ernie Jr., a step-grandson, Cameron Brauer; and a brother, Harlan Engan.

Casketbearers are Wayne Engan, Rick Crawford, Bill Blake, Chris Roney, Chris Wiedow, and Tony Stoen.
