Eleanor Luella Hegge

February 5, 2025 by Fillmore County Journal

Eleanor Hegge obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Eleanor Luella Hegge, age 83, passed away on January 30, 2025, at the Gundersen Tweeten Care Center in Spring Grove, Minn.

She was born on November 27, 1941, in Spring Grove to Clarence and Gelina Moen. She married Arthur Hegge in 1958, and they were lifelong residents of Black Hammer and members of the Faith Lutheran Church of Black Hammer.

Eleanor worked at Control Data for several years when the company moved to Spring Grove, but realized she was drawn to nature and animals. This led her to working for many years on dairy farms in the area, and she enjoyed sharing stories about all her interesting coworkers.  Eleanor began coon hunting at age 10 and prominently displayed the newspaper article with her bluetick English pup Rattler.  She liked to reminisce about the friends who took her on many coon hunting excursions over the years.

She loved all her companion pets through the years, and most recently her Chipin, Bubbles who had become a bit of a celebrity with staff and residents during his daily visits to the care center.

Eleanor lost her hearing in her final years, but never her ability to communicate in her own unique way.  She was hardworking, loyal, ambitious and very proud of her daughter Rachel, son Paul and daughter-in-law Lizzie.  She was one of a kind and will be dearly missed.

Her family is thankful for her friend and neighbor Evelyn Johnson, and the staff at Gundersen Tweeten Care Center who gave Eleanor such amazing care.  Special thanks to Tammy Holte who formed a special bond with Eleanor and made her days brighter with her sense of humor and dedication.

She is survived by her daughter Rachel Hegge, son Paul (Lizzie) Hegge, sisters Ruth Omoth and Ona Housker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur, brother Carlton Moen and sister Edna Hanson.

In honor of Eleanor’s request, there will be no funeral service.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Roble Funeral Home of Spring Grove is assisting the family with arrangements.
