Elaine Mildred Pflughoeft went home to her Savior’s house in heaven on December 9, 2024. She was born July 21, 1935, in a farm house near Stockton, Minn., to Irvin and Mildred (Swenson) Wager. She was united in marriage to childhood sweetheart Raymond Pflughoeft on October 23, 1954, after he sold his prize pig to buy her a ring. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past October.
Elaine was employed as a bookkeeper at several Winona businesses over the years: Watkins, Madison Silo, Choate Department Store, and Behrens Manufacturing.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where for many years she had been active in the choir and Ladies Aid. She loved spending time with her family and getting to know her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, playing scrabble, watching game shows, doing puzzles, feeding the songbirds and looking after the many cats that made the farm their home over the years. Competing at the annual 500 card parties at Ridgeway Community School was something she looked forward to every year. Elaine also had a love for Molly B and polka music, and she and Ray attended many Molly B concerts with their family.
Elaine is survived by her husband Raymond, sons David (Sylvia) Pflughoeft and Jim (Gloria) Pflughoeft, daughters Cheryl (Rick) Renner and Laurie (Robbie) Roberts, son-in-law Randy Bronk, grandchildren Rick Roberts, Mark (Nikki) Roberts, Sarah (Pip) Boucher, Sam (Molly Rafferty) Pflughoeft, Katie (Eric) Robinson, Michelle (Jared) Floodman and Tatyanna Bronk (Nick Knepper); eight great-grandchildren: Izzy, Olivia, Emma, Finley, Arlo, Wyatt, Kayson and Riley; and sisters Mae (Wendell) Multhaup and Peggy Hanson.
She was preceded in death by her brother Ervin Wager, sisters Carol Wadewitz and Bernice Sutton, brothers-in-law Charles Sutton, Paul Wadewitz and Richard Hanson; sister-in-law Roberta Wager, and daughter Jody Bronk.
We want to say thank you to Mayo Hospital staff and Green Prairie Rehab facility in Plainview for their great care and support.
Memorial service will be 12 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Grace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, Minn. Visitation will be 10 a.m., until the time of the service. There will be a meal following the service. She will be laid to rest at Bush Cemetery at a later date.
