Elaine B. Hellickson

Elaine B. Hellickson, 91, of Preston, Minn., died peacefully at Traditions of Preston on Sunday, December 17, 2023.

Elaine Barbara Marzolf was born January 25, 1932, in Preston to Arnold and Viola (Dahl) Marzolf. She attended Luther College for one year and taught school for a while. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Gerald Hellickson, on July 22, 1950. Elaine’s faith was very important to her. She was very active at Christ Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and also worked as the secretary. Elaine later worked for F&M Bank in Preston and then spent the remainder of her years as a farm wife. Her family never went hungry, as Elaine tended her garden with love. In return, it supplied a never-ending plethora of fruits and veggies for canning, cooking and baking.  In her free time, she enjoyed painting and creating many other various crafts and projects.

Elaine is survived by her children Pat (Ron) Scheevel of Preston, Gary (Joyce) Hellickson of Preston and Judy (Todd) Nehring of Erie, Colo., 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Richard Hellickson and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Gerald Hellickson in 2018.

Funeral services for Elaine will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, Minn., with Pastor Chris officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery, next to her beloved husband, “Ger.” Visitation will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. at the church on Friday morning.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made out to Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, Minn., or Traditions of Preston.
