The Eitzen City Council met on April 8, with Mayor Jeff Adamson calling the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. Among the evening’s highlights was the announcement that the interior of the new Habitat for Humanity house in Eitzen has been completed. A dedication ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, at 3 p.m. with a program to follow at 3:30 p.m.
Councilmembers Emily Burrichter, Doug Meyer and Mitch Luttchens were present at the meeting, along with Mayor Adamson. Councilmember Mitch Lange was absent. Also in attendance was City Clerk Steve Schuldt.
In other announcements, the Local Board of Appeal & Equalization meeting will take place on Thursday, May 8, at 6 p.m. Additionally, the Eitzen Lions Club, Gators, and the Eitzen Fire Department are joining forces to host a citywide Easter egg hunt on April 19 at the city park. The mayor noted that it is a good thing for the town.
A proposed temporary storage container at 307 Oak Street was removed from the agenda. The council unanimously approved the March 18 minutes and the March financial reports.
Under old business, no action was taken on two pending issues. The city has not heard back from the government regarding the EPA citation, and the mayor did not have anything to report on the proposed telecommunications tower. He hopes to have something to report at the May council meeting.
The mayor received drawings for suggested updates to the community center and will be forward to the council members for review. The plans will be discussed during the May meeting.
In the absence of Maintenance Supervisor Darryl Meyer, Mayor Adamson noted the need to plan for upcoming road maintenance projects.
The mayor explained that the annual weed report is a formality that must be submitted to the county.
The meeting concluded at 6:19 p.m., following approval of the monthly bills.
