Eileen M. Johnson

July 21, 2020 by Fillmore County Journal

Eileen M. Johnson obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Eileen M. Johnson, 96, of Rushford, died peacefully Sunday, July 19, 2020, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford, surrounded by her family.  Eileen was born November 8, 1923, in Rushford to Harris and Esther (Hein) Svenningson.  She was raised on the Svenningson family farm, north of Rushford, and graduated from Pine Creek Country School.  On November 14, 1953, Eileen was united in marriage to Alex Johnson.  She worked for Altura Turkey Plant, Home Produce of St. Charles, and Rush Products of Rushford.  Eileen was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church, Ladies Night Out Homemakers Club and Echo Ridge Pioneer’s 4-H Club for many years.  She enjoyed watching birds, tending to her flowers and gardens, cooking, baking, reading the various local newspapers, watching Wheel of Fortune and making quilts for her granddaughters.  In her retirement Eileen traveled on bus trips to New York and Cape Cod as well as 4-H trips. Eileen’s pride and joy were her granddaughters and her great-grandchildren, and the family farm.

Eileen is survived by a son, Lyle (Mary) Svenningson; two granddaughters, Sara (Craig) Hanson and Rachel Svenningson; three great-grandchildren: Shayna, Cade and Callan Hanson.  She was preceded in death by her husband Alex in 1987, and her parents.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2020, at Rushford Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Steve Chellew officiating.  Burial will follow in Rushford Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services at the church on Friday.  Please share a memory of Eileen and view her video tribute, when it becomes available at www.hofffuneral.com.  Hoff Funeral Service of Rushford is assisting Eileen’s family with arrangements.
