Edgar Evenson obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Edgar Sibert Evenson, 88, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, at the Gundersen Lutheran Harmony Care Center in Harmony, Minn., surrounded by his family. 

Edgar was born to Sibert and Selma (Neu) Evenson on January 9, 1937, in Rushford, Minn. He attended elementary and high school in Rushford, Minn. He was baptized and confirmed at the Rushford Lutheran Church in Rushford, Minn. He grew up on the Evenson family farm near Rushford, Minn.; he later moved to Peterson, Minn. Edgar worked for the John Deere Company in Waterloo, Iowa. He was a milk hauler for the Hart Creamery and later farmed on his own near Hart, Minn. He worked for Bernard Bus Service driving school buses for the Rushford-Peterson Schools. 

His special interests were going to car auction sales for different makes and models. He enjoyed going to Darr Auction sales for collector items. He enjoyed collecting Roy Roger’s vintage items and comic books. He enjoyed collecting small model tractors and cars. 

Edgar is survived by his son Everett Evenson and his daughter Julie Evenson, his grandchildren Kasey Morris, Lindsay (Richard) Alexander, Mandy Morris, Kenna Gallion, Brooke Evenson and Scott Evenson; and nine great-grandchildren: Addison Morris, Oliver Averbeck, Olivia Morris, Elliot Alexander, Kaylee Gierok, Augustus Alexander, Aspynn Gierok, Macey Hines and Evelyn Hines; and his sisters Irene Hatlevig and Shirley Garness. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Sibert Evenson and Selma (Neu) Evenson, his brother Merle Evenson, his sister-in-law Bette Evenson, his brother-in-law Conrad Hatlevig, and his brother-in-law Alan Garness. 

He will be missed by all who knew him. 

Private family services and burial were held at Rushford Lutheran Church.

Burial followed in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery.
