Donna Amundson obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Donna Amundson, age 85, of Chatfield, passed away peacefully at the Chosen Valley Care Center on November 30, 2025.

Donna was born July 29, 1940, in Rochester, Minn., to Leo and Florence (Doll) Horan. She grew up on a farm in rural Chatfield and went to country school through eighth grade.  In ninth grade she attended Chatfield High School, graduating in 1958.  After graduation she worked at Mayo Clinic.  On August 20, 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, John Amundson.  They made their home in Chatfield.  When she started her family she became a stay at home mom and provided daycare in her home.  When her youngest child started school, she became a paraprofessional at Chatfield Elementary, working there for over 25 years.

Donna’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family.  She was their biggest cheerleader, enthusiastically attending countless sports games and school events.  A master of hospitality, Donna was the “best host and treat lady” whose delicious cooking was enjoyed by family and friends.  She hosted memorable gatherings and ensured every guest was well fed.  In her leisure time, Donna loved a good card game and treasured her time spent relaxing at the lake with her family.

She is survived by her husband John Amundson, three children: Dave (Julie) Amundson, Deb (Kevin) Ericson and Chris (Michele) Amundson; and a sister, Joan (John) McCallum.

Nine grandchildren: Alex, Thea, Sami, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Taylor, Nick, Zack and Hinnon; six great-grandchildren: Bryce, Riya, Olivia, Sullivan, Leo and Myka.

She was proceeded in death by her parents and sister Mary Baker.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Chatfield, Minn. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.

Hoff Funeral Home – Chatfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

A long time ago we had so many good times snowmaching and more. She took care of Andy on occasion. Peace to her family. She was an amazing, kind person.
