Donald "Ole" Bothun obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Donald “Ole” Bothun, 67, of Chatfield, died Sunday, November 1, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Hospitals, Methodist Campus in Rochester.  Ole was born August 15, 1953, in Rochester to Irvin and Amy (Hoiseth) Bothun.  He was raised in Chatfield and attended Chosen Valley High School.  On May 17, 1975, Ole and Cindy Anderson were married in Whalan.  They made their home in Chatfield where he worked as a drill operator for Strongwell, retiring four years ago.

Ole was a hard worker, loved working in his garden and tinkering around the house, making sure that everything was in its proper place.  He was a good pool player in his day and enjoyed gambling trips to Las Vegas with Cindy and cheering for his Vikings.

Survivors include his wife Cindy, two children, Heather Bothun of Rochester and Eric (Melissa) Bothun of Decorah, Iowa; two grandchildren, Lainey and Trevyn Bothun; siblings Lois Barnes of Chatfield, Danny “Buck” (Cindy) Bothun of Preston, LouAnn Bothun (Ray Bailey) of Chatfield and Kenneth “Lars” Bothun of Chatfield.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 7 at Chatfield Lutheran Church, with Reverend Mark Docken officiating.  Burial will follow in Chatfield Cemetery.  A public visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the church.  Due to current restrictions, social distancing and face masks are required.   Please share a memory of Ole at his online guestbook and view his video tribute, when it becomes available at www.hofffuneral.com.  Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service of St. Charles is assisting the family with arrangements.
