Donald Charles Wilson

March 8, 2024 by Fillmore County Journal 1 Comment

Donald Charles Wilson, age 75, of Winona, died Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

Donald was born April 9, 1948, the son of Walter and Alice (Strathdee) Wilson. He grew up in Whalan, Minn., and attended Peterson High School. Following high school, he honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was a decorated war hero. Following his service, he drove semi-trucks for several years. He raised his family in Peterson. Don loved classic cars, especially Fords. He enjoyed finding and restoring them. He had a vibrant sense of humor and liked to pull practical jokes. Donald was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, and rarely missed a chance to cheer them on.  He also enjoyed deer hunting. His favorite days were spent driving around the countryside, with friends and family, with no determined destination.

He is survived by his children: Barbara (Jeff) Wilson, Mary Wilson, Diane Wilson, Donald Wilson, Jr. and David Wilson; three grandchildren: Devin Braswell, Jaydon Wilson and Brynna Wilson; and a sister, Winifred Eiken.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers David and Harvey Wilson.

A private funeral service will be held, and interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minn.

Hoff Celebration of life Center in Winona is assisting the family. www.hofffuneral.com
