March 18, 2024 by Fillmore County Journal

The Womens’ Shelter and Support Center announces that it has received a generous donation of $28,000 from the fundraising efforts of Mayo High School students Give One For All (GOFA) campaign. This substantial contribution will significantly support ongoing efforts to provide life-changing services to survivors of domestic violence in our community.

For over a decade, students at Mayo High School have been organizing fundraising events in support of the shelter, demonstrating unwavering commitment to the cause. This year’s fundraising efforts culminated in an extraordinary record-breaking donation, highlighting the extreme dedication and compassion of the students, faculty, and supporters involved.

“I am truly inspired by the exceptional commitment demonstrated by the Mayo High School students and the positive impact they have on lives,” said Artyce Thomas, executive director of the Women’s Shelter and Support Center. “We are immensely grateful for their outstanding contributions and efforts to help people in their community.”

The $28,600 donation will make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve, providing crucial resources and support to those in need. It will be utilized to enhance program’s services, including providing shelter, community advocacy, legal support, and educational resources to survivors of domestic violence and their families.
