LANESBORO, MN, March 16, 2022 – The Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce and History Alive Lanesboro invite the public to a dinner on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Sons of Norway Lodge in Lanesboro to honor two local elders and those actors who told their stories in last fall’s History Alive Pop-Up Play.
In the fall of 2021, History Alive Lanesboro presented a Pop-Up Play entitled “Lanesboro: World War II and Beyond.” Among the many veterans and residents portrayed were two living long-time local residents – Bertram Boyum (now 103) and Eleanor Davidson (now 98). Two local actors – Aiden Lieb and Vickie Nelson – played the parts of “Bertram” and “Eleanor” in the play. The play created opportunities for unique and fun interaction between the real-life characters and the actors portraying them.
All four will come together again at the March 30 dinner-event. Photographs of Bertram and Eleanor and their actor-counterparts taken during the play will be viewed and awarded. There will also be opportunities to meet them and ask questions about their experiences during and just after World War II. The photographs can be viewed at the visitors center beginning in April.
After the ceremony, a dinner-buffet catered by Home Sweet Home Café will be available for $15 per person (LACC Members: $11/LACC, $12/Seniors 65 and older.) At Eleanor’s request, the buffet will feature meatloaf, baked chicken breasts, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, salad and dinner roll, coffee and tea. Seating was by RSVP at lacc.mn/elders by noon on March 23. For more information about this event, please contact the Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce at (507) 467-2696 or visit lacc.mn/events. Audience can attend the ceremony and not the dinner, if preferred.
