Dicky D. Deyo, 78, of Chatfield, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
Dicky Dale Deyo was born April 9, 1944, in rural Chatfield, to Bernard and Alice (Chermak) Deyo.
Dicky graduated from Chosen Valley High School in 1962. On December 22, 1960, he married Ada Batt. Together they had two sons; they later divorced and he met the love of his life, Carolyn Batt. They married on December 11, 1965. In 1968, they welcomed another son together. Dicky enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. After his honorable discharge he went to driving truck. Dicky worked for Wonder Bread for 28 years. He started driving bus in 1972 for Bernard bus service. He retired in 2020 after 48 years.
Dicky enjoyed the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his passion and he had a knack for calling them in. Spoiling his wife was one of his favorite things to do, though he would joke he doesn’t spoil her. Dicky loved tough but we all knew we were the light of his life. Anyone who knew Dicky knew his sarcastic witt was truly his charm.
Dicky is survived by his sons Kevin (Melanie) Deyo, Kenneth Deyo, and Darwin (Jody) Deyo; his sister Leona Billings, his grandchildren Joshua (Alyssa) Deyo, Marissa (Sam) Fryer, Kayla Deyo, Kacie Deyo, Devyn (Ashley) Deyo, Karlie (Josh) Deyo, and Rhiannon (Nick) Steien; his great-grandchildren Skylar, Kamdyn, Weston, Jett, Greyson, Oaklynn, Haizlynn, Arianna, and baby Jackson on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Carolyn, granddaughter Ashley Deyo and sister Judy Cronk.
A Celebration of Life for Dicky will be Monday, February 20, 2023, at Riley Funeral Home from 3-5 p.m. Burial will take place at Chatfield Cemetery following the visitation. Military honors will be conducted by the Chatfield VFW Post 6913.
