Diane Guttormson

April 1, 2024 by Fillmore County Journal

Diane Guttormson obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Diane Guttormson, of Harmony, Minn., passed away peacefully at St. Marys Hospital on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the age of 76.

She was born on November 2, 1947 in Rochester, Minn., to M.B. and Mavis (Trusty) Ryan. She grew up on a farm outside Harmony. She attended country school until sixth grade, then she attended and graduated from Harmony High School in 1966.

On September 12, 1970, she married Curt Guttormson at the Nativity Catholic Church in Harmony. From this union, they had two children, Melissa and Deborah. She worked several different jobs in the area but spent the majority of her working career at Donaldsons, where she served 30-plus faithful years and retired in 2015.

Diane enjoyed her daily power walks, a glass of red wine, going dancing, listening to country music and her independent lifestyle. Her most cherished times were those shared with her family, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Laue (Brad Wickham) of Fredericksburg, Iowa, and Deborah (Jamaul) Gayles of Rochester, Minn.; four siblings: Dennis (Inez) Ryan of Aberdeen, S. Dak., Delores Every of Chatfield, Minn., Bonnie (Steve) Leigh of San Antonio, Tex., and Cindy Ryan (Brett Ellison) of Faribault, Minn.; seven grandchildren: Leigha (Johnny) Roberts of Davenport, Iowa, Skylar (Casey) Buxengard of Spring Grove, Minn., Makaila Skadsem (Dex Johnson) of Spring Grove, Minn., Mackenzie Smith of Minneapolis, Minn., Abigail Rutgerson of Minneapolis, Minn., and Cylis and Kyenne Gayles-Lopez; three brothers in-law: Llewellyn Storlie, Ellsworth (Mary Lou) Storlie and Orson (Michelle) Guttormson; three sisters in-law: Elaine Guttormson, Susan Wilson and Kathy Ryan, six great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents M.B and Mavis Ryan, her husband Curt, brother Wally Ryan, infant sister Deborah Ryan, mother in-law Olga, and sister in-law Sharon Storlie.

The family would like to thank the incredible employees of the St. Marys Neuro ICU for the loving and compassionate care that Diane received.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony, with visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at the State Line Cemetery in rural Harmony. Lindstrom Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Diane and I danced it up at Matters in the days after we graduated from high school. We even bought a pair of shoes together. We were the same size and they were too expensive for either one of us to buy alone. She was a fun friend and I could tell her anything and she’d always support me. How lucky the family is to have such a loving Mom and Grandma.!
