Dennis “Denny” Wead, 75, of rural Preston, passed away Monday, July 13, 2020, unexpectedly, at his home.
Dennis Walter Wead was born January 19, 1945, in Lanesboro, to Walter and Harriet (Hoff) Wead. He grew up on a farm outside of Lanesboro, and graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1963. After high school he entered the Marine Corps, and served in the Vietnam War. After he returned back from the war, he met and married Linda Hovelson on April 18, 1969. They farmed and had their own pigs until 1998.
Denny worked for Valley Design in Fountain, and before that worked for Dave Schmidt, and also Gary Hellickson.
Denny was an avid gun collector, and was a big hunter, trapper and fisherman. He also loved his Minnesota Twins, auction sales, and his coonhound Molly. He was always there to help others out. But most of all he loved his grandsons and family. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his daughter Sara (Blaine) York of Lanesboro, grandsons Zaccary Wead of Canton and Harlee Wead of Lanesboro. He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife Linda in 2012.
A private family memorial service and burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston.
