A home-cooked meal delivered December 28, 2025, is now at the center of a criminal case in Winneshiek County, where authorities allege it was used in an attempt to cause a miscarriage.
Amber Dena Snow of Decorah faces multiple charges after investigators say a pan of lasagna was laced with a controlled substance and delivered to another family.
The case began in January 2026, when the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office received a report about the meal. Working with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Decorah Police Department, and the Winneshiek County Attorney’s Office, authorities opened an investigation.
According to the complaint, investigators identified Snow and another individual as co-conspirators and allege the dish had been laced with oxycodone before it was delivered.
Both individuals were interviewed during the investigation. Court documents state each spoke with law enforcement. Investigators also obtained electronic communications and search history from their devices, both before and after the food was prepared and dropped off.
The complaint states the meal was delivered to a household that included a pregnant woman. Investigators allege the intent was to cause a miscarriage without her knowledge or consent.
The case also involves a shared family connection. Records show Snow shares custody of a minor child with members of that household.
Investigators say the child was present during preparation and understood what was happening. The complaint states the child objected. The child was also present during delivery and remained at the home where the food was intended to be eaten.
The lasagna was later submitted to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Criminalistics Laboratory, where testing confirmed the presence of oxycodone, a Schedule II narcotic analgesic.
Prosecutors later filed multiple charges against Snow.
She is charged with conspiracy to deliver oxycodone, a Class C felony, and attempted nonconsensual termination of a pregnancy, a Class D felony.
Additional Class D felony counts allege the drug was administered to multiple individuals, including two adults identified as CN and LN and two juveniles identified as NN and WN.
Snow also faces a charge of child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor, based on allegations she knowingly created a substantial risk to a child’s physical, mental, or emotional health or safety.
Investigators have requested no-contact orders along with arrest warrants.
The complaint identifies another individual as a co-conspirator, but no charges have been filed against that person as of this report.
