Debra “Deb” Sue Hagedorn

Debra Hagedorn obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Debra “Deb” Sue Hagedorn, 66, passed away on April 20, 2026, at Sauer Health Care after a brave battle with cancer.

She was born in Winona, Minn., on April 13, 1960, to Richard and Sue (Rendigs) Hagedorn. Deb’s life was a patchwork of memorable moments, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a suspiciously large collection of fabric scraps.

Deb was baptized on May 8, 1960, in Winona, Minn., at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, and confirmed on May 18, 1975, at Grace Lutheran Church in Apple Valley, Minn. Her adolescence rolled by at the family-owned roller rink in Apple Valley, Minn. When the family wasn’t skating, they were working together on farms in Stockton, Garvin Heights, and Hart. If there was hay to bale or cows to chase, Deb was there. She graduated from Rushford High School in 1978.

Deb spent 35 years with a company that changed names more often than she changed her quilting needles: Rush Products, Lucas, TRW, and BCS.

She loved travel and adventure with lifelong friends, and though she gave marriage a whirl, she quickly realized she was better suited to the solo act. After all, no one could keep up with her midnight quilting marathons. There was no craft project Deb couldn’t tackle, but her true passion was quilting. If you ever received a graduation, wedding, or baby quilt from Deb, you know she poured her heart into every stitch.

Deb is survived by her daughter Kimberly Duffy, granddaughters Jordan and Paige, brothers David, Scott “Moose,” and Shawn (Linda); nieces Jessica (Dan) Horvat and Jennifer (Jason) Clemens, and many great-nephews and great-nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford, Minn., with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. until the time of service.

Deb’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care provided by Gundersen Hospice Care and Sauer Health Care.

Hoff Funeral Home Rushford is assisting the family. Please visit www.hofffuneral.com to leave an online condolence.
