Fillmore County Journal - Where Fillmore County News Comes First - Dean Starks Obituary

Dean L. Starks, 79, of Madison, passed away on October 30, 2016 at Sanford Hospital. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, November 3 at 1 PM at Kinzley Funeral Home in Madison. Burial will follow at the Winfred Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6–8 pm on Wednesday, also at the funeral home.

Dean Starks was born on March 4, 1937 to Wesley and Carrie (Alexander) Starks in Canton, Minn. He attended school in Canton and worked for his father in the cistern business before moving to Minneapolis, where he worked at Libson Truck Salvage, Riverside Auto Parts for 15 years. He then moved to Preston, Minn., and worked at AFC Inc. in Chatfield, Minn., until his retirement. He then moved to Brainerd, Minn., and Madison, S. Dak.

Dean is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Madison; daughter, Deana (Jerry Borg) VanVickle of Brainerd, Minn.; son, Harvey Starks of Pequot Lakes, Minn.; stepson Mark Rowe of Madison; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Myrtle of Merrifield, Minn.; brother, Reuben (Helen) of Jacksonville, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
