Dawson Grabau obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Dawson D. Grabau, age 70, of Preston, Minn., passed Thursday March 31, 2022, at his home.

Dawson Duaine Grabau was born in Rochester, Minn., on May 2, 1951, to Everett and Lois (Schunke) Grabau.  He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minn.  He was united in marriage to Linda Schmidt on July 17, 1971, in Eyota, Minn., and later separated in February 2022.

Following Dawson’s graduation from the University of Minnesota in Animal Science, they made a home in Preston, Minn., where Dawson started work as an extension agent for the University of Minnesota Extension Services.  Later in life Dawson would establish and build Spex Feeds with his business partner, and eventually fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a successful and respected cattleman on their family farm.

Dawson is survived by his sons Chad Grabau of Preston, Minn., and Brett (Jade) Grabau of Preston, Minn.; beloved grandsons Easton and Miken Grabau, former spouse Linda Grabau, along with remaining aunts, cousins, former in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Everett and Lois, brother David and sister Dalone, along with other extended family whom he held dear.

Dawson will be laid to rest at a private service and burial at Greenwood Cemetery near his beloved farm.
