David Kiefer

May 19, 2025 by Fillmore County Journal 1 Comment

David Kiefer, age 80, of Harmony, Minn., (formerly of Preston) died on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Gundersen Harmony Care Center in Harmony, Minn.

David Charles Kiefer was born on January 24, 1945, to Karl and Florence (Kline) Kiefer in Fillmore County, Minn., andwas raised in the Preston area, graduating from Preston High School in 1962. He grew up with three sisters and was inseparable from his “Irish twin” sister, Annette, as they were only 10 ½ months apart in age. As young children, the two of them had their own language only they understood. From their younger years to their older years, they were always best friends or as some would say co-conspirators. He was a practical joker, and if he liked you, he was known to pick on you.

Farming is what David enjoyed most, dedicating most of his life to it. He also spent 17 years working at Valley Design in Fountain, Minn. He loved his farm and all of his animals. Many have heard him say, “It’s not a farm, it’s a zoo!” He enjoyed raising exotic chickens, guineas, ducks, and cows all while having a faithful dog by his side. David preferred milking his cows by hand, “It’s when I do my thinking!” He will always be remembered for his positive spirit and his kindness to others, always willing to lend a hand.

He is survived by his sister Annette Kiefer, and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Maxine Redmann and Yvonne Huebner.

Per his wishes, David will be cremated. No services planned.

Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home is assisting the family.
