David “Dave” Hoppe, age 78, of Harmony, Minn., passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025.
David Harold Hoppe was born September 6, 1946, to Emil and Mary (Biwer) Hoppe. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lewiston, Minn. He graduated from Lewiston High School. He continued his education, receiving a Masters in Math from Winona State.
In 1968, David married Pamela Brockway. He taught high school in Randolph, Minn., until they relocated to Harmony, Minn., in 1970. He worked at Northern Engraving in Spring Grove, Minn., until his retirement.
David enjoyed telling stories, woodworking, solving Sudoku puzzles, reading, cooking and watching old westerns on TV. He spent most of his retirement taking care of and enjoying the company of neighborhood cats; most recently Sammy the Siamese. Other activities he enjoyed in retirement included church choir, Wednesday Bible study, Lions Club, and the Thursday lunch bunch.
He was predeceased by his father Emil, mother Mary, stepmother Ivanetta, sister Dianne, and an infant brother.
He is survived by his wife Pam, son Ben (Heidi Wolf), granddaughters Keira and Fiona, sister Sadie, sisters-in-law Becky (Ben) and Cindy, special friends Anne, Ruth (Alex, Peter) and Helen, and Sammy the Siamese, along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services at the church on Friday morning.
