David “Dave” L. Holland, age 75, loving father, husband, and grandparent, passed away in the company of loved ones on January 28, 2023, in Roseville, Minn. He was Born August 14, 1947, in Spring Grove, Minn., to James and Palma Holland. On September 4, 1966, he joined in marriage to Ann (Torvick) Holland at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. He shared a birthday with his son John, born August 14, 1972.
Dave was preceded in death by Ann, his parents, and brother Dean.
He is survived by son John, daughter-in-law Trina, granddaughters Amelia and Anika, and many other relatives and friends.
Dave was valedictorian of his high school class (Spring Grove High School – Class of 1965), graduated from the University of Minnesota with high distinction from the Bachelor of Science program in 1968, as well as with a Master of Science degree in 1970. Thereafter, he served as an officer aboard the Navy’s first supercarrier, the USS Forrestal. Following honorable discharge from Naval service, he was employed by First Bank, which later merged with US Bank, where Dave capably served as a vice president with responsibility for disaster recovery planning.
He will be remembered for his gentle demeanor, intelligence, and dry wit – and for being a computer whiz. He was a friend to many and will be missed by family and friends. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Central Lutheran Church, 333 South 12th Street, Minneapolis, Minn., 55404 (next to the Minneapolis Convention Center). Visitation starts at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., with a luncheon to follow on site. Memorials: Central Lutheran or donor’s choice.
