David McBain obituary, Fillmore County JOurnal

David A. McBain, 65, of Sparta, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Emplify Health in La Crosse. He was born on August 3, 1960, to Guy and Evelyn (Carden) McBain, in Black River Falls. He graduated from Black River Falls High School.

After high school, David attended UW-Stout. He started out working as a farmhand, until starting his own cattle hoof trimming business. He retired for health reasons in 2018.

David married Paula Hazen on December 24, 1989, in Alma Center. They resided in Florida, Holmen and Marshfield before moving to Sparta in 2022.

David was a member of the Melrose Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed building furniture, fishing with his grandkids, and spending time with his beloved family.

David is survived by his wife Paula of Sparta, two daughters, Elizabeth Cline of Holmen and Christina (Robert) Schmidt of Canton, Minn.; grandchildren Olivia, Ethan, Isaac, Kadyn, Logan and Elissia; brother Larry (Kathy) McBain of Waldo, and sister Mary McBain of Sheboygan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Christopher Boggs, and two sisters, Janet Ireland and Nancy Meredith.

Private services were held.Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com.

Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, assisted the family with arrangements.
