Darlene R. Kryzer

Darlene R. Kryzer, 88, of Minnetonka, Minn., and formerly of Winona and Rushford, Minn., died on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn.

Darlene Raphany Johnson was born on Saturday, January 5, 1935, in La Crosse, Wis., to  Richard and Delora (Davidson) Johnson. She was raised in the Bratsberg area south of Rushford. Darlene was a 1953 graduate of Rushford High School. On October 21, 1954, Darlene was united in marriage with John Kryzer at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona. She and John lived in Winona for many years. Darlene worked as a nurse’s aid at St. Anne’s in Winona for 32 years. She was a proud Norwegian who loved her lefse, “Uffda”. In her spare time Darlene enjoyed sewing clothing for her children. She also enjoyed polka dancing and traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, Florida and her many trips to Branson, Mo. She loved the Hallmark Channel, Mel Tillis and most of all, her grandchildren.

Darlene is survived by four children: David (Lisa) Kryzer, Dan (Terri) Kryzer, Dick (Jean) Kryzer and Daphne Kryzer, all of the Twin Cities area; seven grandchildren: Adam, Kaylee, Jake, Ben, Deric, Zachary and Jarod; four step-children, 13 great-grandchildren, two siblings, Nina Austin and Harley (Roberta) Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and twin sister Delaine.

There will be a funeral service for Darlene at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford. Burial will be in the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Hart, Minn. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
