Darlene Ann Bradt

December 28, 2020 by Fillmore County Journal

Darlene Bradt obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Darlene Ann Bradt, 80, of Chatfield, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, December 26, 2020, surrounded by her husband, daughter, son-in-law, and son.

Darlene was born June 7, 1940, in Dyersville, Iowa, to William and Mary Enette (Schemmel) Jurgens.  She graduated from St. Paul’s High School in Worthington, Iowa, and Mercy School of Practical Nursing in Marshalltown, Iowa.  On October 27, 1962, she married John “Jack” Bradt in Worthington, Iowa.

Darlene took great pride in her nursing career of 43 years, doing what she did best, using her heart to mend others’.  Not only did she do this at Mayo Clinic, but also continued her work in the Chatfield community after her retirement.  She took great pride volunteering at the church and taking part in Meals on Wheels. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family; from sporting events – especially wrestling – to spoiling her grandkids with shopping trips.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack; son Michael Bradt of Minneapolis, daughter Suzanne (Trevor) Bly of Chatfield, four grandchildren: Kayla, Kari, Jake Mandt, and Lucie Bradt; two step grandchildren, Kayla Bly and Cody (Jessica) Bly, two step-great-grandchildren, Brysten and Haven; and sister Kay (Ron) Lawrence of Dyersville, Iowa.

She is preceded in death by her son Steven Bradt, two brothers, Richard and Kenneth Jurgens; and her parents William and Mary Enette Jurgens.

A Memorial Mass for Darlene will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Father Edward McGrath officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before services at the church.  Memorials can be mailed to Riley Funeral Home, Attn: Bradt family, 800 S Main St., Chatfield, Minn. 55923.

Darlene will be missed but her legacy will continue to live on. Online condolences are welcome at rileyfuneralhomes.com.
