Dale Johnson obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Dale V. Johnson, age 80, of Spring Valley, Minn., passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Cedar Court of Adams with his loving family by his side.

Dale was born April 12, 1946, in Preston, Minn., to the late Vernon and Arlone (Wahl) Johnson of Harmony, Minn. On October 30, 1966, he married Marcene (Mick) Johnson of Harmony, Minn. In their 57 years of marriage, they had three children: Paula Lecy of Spring Valley, Tammy (Tony) Lecy of Spring Valley, and Dan Johnson of Grand Meadow.

Dale served in the Vietnam War from 1965 until he was honorably discharged in 1967. Dale was an avid over-the-road truck driver for many years, working for various companies until his retirement in the late 2000s. Dale and Mick loved traveling with their camper until they finally settled at Mac’s Park Place. If you went to visit, most of the time you would find the two of them riding on their golf cart through the woods, watching the water running off the dam, or visiting with friends and family.

He proudly served as a member of Stewartville American Legion Post 164 for more than 50 years.

Dale is survived by his three children, brother Duaine (Arlene) Johnson of Canton, Minn., sisters Lori (Bob) Martinek of Cresco, Iowa, and Lonna Kerns of Byron, Minn. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Mick; parents Vernon and Arlone, twin brother Dean, son-in-law Dave, and brother-in-law Ken.

Dale loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A private family burial will be held June 12 at 1 p.m. at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston.

A celebration of life will be held on June 14 from 2-4 p.m. at the Stewartville American Legion Post 164.
