Dale R. Wondrasch

Dale R. Wondrasch, age 84, of Spring Valley, died Thursday April 20. 2017 at Spring Valley Senior Living in Spring Valley, Minn.

Dale was born October 1, 1932 in Spring Valley to Louis and Mahla (Grabau) Wondrasch. He attended school at Forestville Center, St. Johns in Wykoff, and Wykoff Public School. In February of 1953 he was inducted into the United States Army. Dale was a corporal serving during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged from active duty in 1955 and remained in the Army Reserve for several years. Over the years Dale worked at the Spring Valley Chick Hatchery, Home Telephone Co. in Grand Meadow, Spring Valley Co-Op Creamery and Land O’Lakes Inc. as a butter maker. He was an active member of VFW Post 4114 and American Legion Post 369 in Spring Valley and was a member of the Spring Valley Fire Department for 20 years. He was also a member of First English Lutheran Church, the Spring Valley Sportsman Club, the Spring Valley Historical Society, Friends of Forestville ,and was active in the meals on wheels program. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, watching sports and reading.  Dale was proud to take part in the Color Guard for parades and putting flags up for holidays and on veterans markers at the cemetery. He was also very honored to take part in military funerals for as long as he was able.

He is survived by nieces and nephews: Gene Sanford, Judy Carter and Lloyd Sanford all of Spokane, Wash., and Arlene Wiemer and Nancy Kuester, both of Colo.  He is also survived by several cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2017 at First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, with Pastor Loel Wessel officiating. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley.
