Dale H. Egland

March 6, 2023 by Fillmore County Journal

Dale Egland obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Dale H. Egland, 80, of Houston, Minn., died on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Lewiston Senior Living in Lewiston, Minn. Dale Hurvey Egland was born on October 4, 1942, in Houston, Minn., to Hurvey and Jane (Clawson) Egland. He was raised in Houston and was a graduate of Houston High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and education from Winona State University. Dale taught high school for a short time and then worked for IBM in Rochester. He spent the majority of his career as a finance administrator for many midwest area hospitals. Dale served in the U.S. National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, anything that had to do with numbers and had a great sense of humor. Dale was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, of which he was a stockholder. He also shared his love of sports with his daughters and especially enjoyed watching them play.

Dale is survived by two daughters: Doreen (Michael) Clough of Galena, Ill., and Denice Redman of Alton, Ill.; five grandchildren: Hayley, Kyle, Ainsley, Amelia, and Adeline; and by a sister, Bernice (Jerry) Nau of Rochester, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lois Oelke.

Dale’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the employees of Lewiston Senior Living and Winona Area Hospice for the exceptional care they gave to Dale.

A memorial service for Dale was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Bethany Evangelical Free Church in Houston, with the Reverend Ed Clay officiating. Burial followed in the Silver Creek Cemetery in rural Houston.
