Dale Eugene Dunn, age 71, of Rushford, Minnesota, passed away on October 30, 2026, after a short but fierce battle with multiple myeloma.
Dale was born on April 15, 1955, in Loup City, Nebraska, to Floyd and Barbara Dunn. He spent his life rooted in hard work, family and the simple joys that brought him happiness.
A lifelong dairy farmer, Dale proudly worked at Dunn Farms alongside his father and brothers, dedicating decades to the family operation he loved. In addition to farming, he spent more than 20 years as a truck driver. Whether on the farm or behind the wheel, Dale never met a stranger. There wasn’t a customer he didn’t already know, and if he didn’t know them, it didn’t take long before he did.
Dale was known for his friendly nature, gift of conversation and genuine interest in people. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued. His passions included hunting and fishing, and he eagerly looked forward to deer season each year with his incredibly large hunting crew. He never missed a boat or fishing show, and could spend hours getting his gear and boat set up just right.
Of all his favorite pastimes, nothing brought Dale more joy than spending time with his grandchildren. Whether it was fishing with his grandsons, sharing ice cream or simply spending time together, those moments created memories that will be cherished for generations.
Dale is survived by his daughter Michelle, his son James, the mother of his children, Patricia Cheney; his grandchildren Alisa (Zach) Gathje, Lucas VanderArk, Niklas VanderArk, Zachary Dunn and Lowen VanderArk; his mother Barbara Dunn, his brothers Danny Dunn and Gary (Nola) Dunn, his sister Connie (Brad) Welch, and his devoted companion Debbie, whose care, support and companionship brought comfort during his final year. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Floyd Dunn.
Dale’s legacy lives on through the family he loved, the friendships he built and the countless stories shared around farms, trucks, hunting camps, fishing boats and kitchen tables. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his kindness, his love of the outdoors and the way he could strike up a conversation with anyone.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
