A year ago, LARPH boys cross country was a perpetual meet first place contender. Matt Kingsbury’s group won the 1A Meet itself, to make state. They graduated two great runners in Tyler Rislov and Andrew Hoiness, but LARPH is still potent. At the Dover-Eyota Invite, LARPH took first (50) over Lake City (68) and RAACE (75). GMLOS (97) took fifth and LFC (143) sixth of seven complete teams. It was LARPH’s second team win of the season, as they took the six-team two-mile W-K Gallup to start the year. Junior Ryan Prinsen’s second place finish (17:48.45) led the charge. He was only bested by W-K’s Cole Arens (17:02.81). Tyler Betthauser (6th > 18:07.48), Matthew Sprague (11th > 18:38.56), Aaron Ploetz (12th > 18:47.46), and Isaac Rasmussen (20th > 19:26.02) gave LARPH’s five in the top 20. LFC’s Isaac Snyder took fourth (17:56.20). GMLOS’ Carter Glynn (15th > 18:59.40), Tate Georgen (16th > 19:01.02), and Cohen Wiste (19th > 19:22.8) also finished top 20. Fifty-one guys competed. On the girls side, Lake City (23) bested RAACE (65) and LFC (73). LARPH (145) took fifth and GMLOS (162) seventh (of seven). LFC’s Lillyan Kiehne (21:11.43) was the top “Journal 11” finisher, taking third behind Lake City’s Jacey Majerus (20:26.83) and Peyton Meincke (20:57.01). LARPH’s Ellie Ekern (6th > 22:56.64) and LFC’s Klaudia Biel (8th > 23:31.06) also finished top 10. LFC’s Addie Miner (11th > 23:37.08) and seventh grader Grace Kingsley (16th > 23:58.64) gave the Burros four in the top 20. Lake City’s top five all finished top 10. GMLOS’s top runner McKenna Hendrickson did not compete. The 5,000-meter races were run around Dover-Eyota’s school grounds.
