LARPH Boys Take First, LFC Girls Second at Crazy Buffalo Meet

Winona-Cotter had the first three runners across the finish line. But in a re-match of the top two teams in Section 1A in boys cross country from last year, the Ramblers did not take first as a team at La Crescent-Hokah’s Crazy Buffalo cross country meet. That distinction went to defending 1A champion LARPH, which then placed the next five, and seven guys in the top 12. Matt Kingsbury’s group (30) topped Cotter (39) with LFC (122) taking fifth of six complete and eight total teams. Ramblers Erik Semling (13:00), Ryan Littlefield (13:19), and Kellen Groth (13:27) took first, second and third at the 4,000-meter race. Next came the LARPH fivesome of Wyatt Kreidermacher (13:50), Isaac Rasmussen (13:56), Trey Hegland (13:58), Brennan Kunst (13:59), and Aaron Ploetz (14:05) in places four thru eight. Grayson Speltz (10th place > 14:17) and Hunter Rislov (12th place > 14:42) also cracked the top 12 while Matt Sprague (22nd > 15:10) and Will Jewison (24th > 15:21) gave LARPH nine in the top 25. LFC’s top runner was Riley Grant (15:26) in 25th place. Sixty-five total guys competed. On the girls side, Cotter (37) took first over LFC (65) and Lake City (78) with LARPH (124) taking fifth of seven complete and eight total varsity teams. Like the Stewartville Meet a week prior, Rambler Sonja Semling (15:39) topped LFC’s Autumn Rakosnik (15:52) for first. Lake City’s Olivia Yotter (16:45) took third. LARPH’s Caitlin Bauer (17:36) and Vada Larson (18:43) took ninth and 19th places. The Burros placed five in the top 25. Charity Kingsley (11th > 17:50), Grace Kingsley (14th > 18:11), Lillyan Kiehne (17th > 18:29), and Eliza Cullen (24th > 19:13) joined Rakosnik. Fifty-three girls competed. The event was held at La Crescent’s Pine Creek Golf Course on a 76-degree humid, breezy day.

Hayfield Meet (St. Charles’ boys (49) topped Pacelli (80), Pine Island (81), and Chatfield (101) with GMLOS (158) taking sixth of 11 full teams. Saint Ivan Daood (17:26.8) took first over Zumbrota-Mazeppa’s Caleb Kevan (17:50.5) and St. Charles’ Peyton Andring (17:51.2). GMLOS’ Carter Glynn (18:15) took ninth. Chatfield had five in the top 25; Maddex Lanning (17th place > 19:14.7), Ben Peeters (20th > 19:23.4), Aiden Johnsrud (22nd > 19:46.5), Ivar Stavlund (23rd > 19:59.3), and Alden Pearson (24th > 20:01.9). Seventy-eight total guys competed. On the girls side, Pine Island (63) topped Goodhue (79), Pacelli (102), Chatfield (107), and GMLOS (152) at the top of the 11-team meet. Kingsland took tenth. Gopher Lexi Kivimagi (20:44.5) took first over Blooming Prairie’s Gloria Hernandez (21:24.4) and Z-M’s Lily Duden (21:27.7). Chatfield’s Charlotte Oeltjen (22:49.3) took 11th to give the Gophers two in the top 15. GMLOS had two in the top 25; Naomi Warmka (15th place > 23:20) and Audrey Main (25th place > 23.54.2). Kingsland’s Kylie Meyer (23:54.2) took 24th. Eight-three total girls competed. Each race was 5,00
