Notices and Consent Agenda: Thank you from SMIF for City’s annual contribution; Rushford Fire Relief Raffle coming up 2/8/25 at Nordic Lanes; RPVCC Annual Meeting at Legion 3/6/25; SEMLM meeting info and contact information; Approve claims paid/fund summary report ending 1/27/25; Annual review of ATV/UTV Ordinance and Permit Process; Annual Report of Outstanding Indebtedness year end 2024.
Annual Report from Fire Dept. outgoing Chief Chad Rasmussen, Incoming Chief Nick Smith; approve officer appointments, training sessions, meeting and event schedules. Review Relief fund raising and donations to department, review equipment purchased, truck repairs, roof and painting improvements to building.
PWD, Knutson, provided report of possible 2025 projects, fitting into schedules of regular maintenance of equipment, streets, water, sewer, levee, parks, and so forth. Projects include levee maintenance, tree removal/replanting, storm, alleys, manhole repairs, campground upgrade, playground improvements, possible pollinator plot, airport tree and fence work.
Approve recommendation of PWD for the replacement of the 2005 F-750 truck, the main snowplowing and hauling truck, with a 1015 Int’l MV607 from DeBauche Truck along with snow plow, sander equipment from Universal Truck Equipment. Old truck and equipment will be sold at Darr Auction. Also looking to replace ’07 GMC truck with used vehicle. Council approved reasonable bidding on a bucket truck replacement on a unit Mi Energy will be auctioning off.
Approved purchase of self-water planters for down-town flower baskets – requiring less manpower as volunteers are not as readily available for watering. These planters will save time, manpower, water, fertilizer and have a life-time warranty.
Approve recommendation of EDA to provide a $49,900.00 Commercial Revolving Loan to NL Acquisitions Co. LLC, dba Norsland Lefse to assist with funding for equipment upgrades and purchases to increase production at their facility.
Approved EDA recommendation regarding the revised Micro-Grant Program; increased to $2,500.00 in matching grant funds with eligible uses detailed.
Updates: public works continuing work on Eastern Star site and researching rebuilding options; pubic works discussing with DNR tree removal at airport; all five hangars are rented out, two awaiting new planes, one hangar open in older building; electrical work done in new hangar, project will be closed out soon; 2/5/25 Library Program “Testify” and a speaker on the roll of the KKK in this area.
