Please review the following if you would like to submit any commentary to the Fillmore County Journal.
Letters to the Editor
- Can be no longer than 250 words
- Must include your name, phone number, city and state (phone numbers are not published)
- If over 250 words, it will qualify as a Guest Commentary
Guest Commentary
- Can be no longer than 600 words
- Must include a photo of the author
- Must include your name, phone number, city and state (phone numbers are not published)
Policies for both Letters to the Editor and Guest Commentary
- We will notify the author if the submission exceeds the word count limitation.
- The author will need to edit their submission to trim the word count down.
- The Fillmore County Journal staff will not trim any submissions down for any author.
- Submissions that are respectful, civil and focus on issues are more likely to get published.
- All writing contributions are subject to the publisher’s discretion.
- Authors may only submit one commentary per 30 days.
- All submissions require a name, phone number, city and state. (Phone numbers are not published)
Submit a commentary
- The deadline is noon on Tuesdays prior to the next Monday publication date, with the exception of weeks in which publishing days may be affected by holidays.
- Commentary submissions will be based on space availability. There are no guarantees that letter will be published immediately after an author’s submission.
