Chapter 120: Lodging Businesses

The City Council of the City of Lanesboro, Minnesota has enacted Chapter 120: Lodging Businesses Ordinance to regulate and ensure the proper operation of lodging establishments within the city. The key provisions of this chapter include:

1.General Provisions: The ordinance establishes the authority of the city to regulate lodging businesses to protect public health, safety, and general welfare. It mandates that all lodging establishments comply with this ordinance and other applicable city regulations.

2.Licensing Requirements:

a.All lodging establishments, including bed and breakfasts, hotels, motels, and vacation dwelling units (e.g., VRBO and Airbnb), must obtain both a state license and a city license.

b.Detailed application processes are outlined for each type of lodging business, including requirements for providing legal and contact information, property details, and applicable fees.

c.Licenses are issued annually and are valid from April 1 through March 31 of the following year.

3.License Ineligibility, Suspension, and Revocation:

a.The ordinance specifies conditions under which an applicant may be deemed ineligible for a license, including past criminal convictions and failure to provide accurate information.

b.Procedures are outlined for the suspension or revocation of licenses due to violations, including the right to a public hearing and the appeal process.

4.Enforcement:

a.The City Council may direct the City Administrator/Clerk to issue notices of violations, with penalties imposed for non-compliance.

b.Specific penalties are established for operating a lodging business without a license, including fines for late license renewal.

A complete copy of Chapter 120: Lodging Businesses is available for public inspection at Lanesboro City Hall located at 202 Parkway Avenue South, Lanesboro, MN during regular business hours. Interested parties can also request a copy by mail or electronic mail.

This Ordinance shall become effective upon publication.
