Christine Riggle

July 12, 2023 by Fillmore County Journal

Christine Ann (Stevens) Riggle,  of Chatfield, Minn., passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023.

Chris was born to Adell and Frances (Stinehart) Stevens on January 13, 1953, in Mason City, Iowa. The family relocated to rural Lanesboro, Minn., when Chris was young. Chris spent her childhood helping on the farm and running in the woods with her siblings. She was fiercely independent, even in her youth.

She graduated from Peterson High School in 1971, and Winona State University in 1975 with a BA in Music.

Chris was united in marriage to Timothy Riggle on September 29, 1979. In 1985, they welcomed their only son, Jacob Timothy Riggle. Chris was a homemaker for much of Jake’s younger years. She worked various jobs over this time, from a para at the school to working for State Farm to teaching piano lessons.

Chris loved to read, play piano and to spend time with her grandchildren. They brought much joy to her retirement years.

Chris is survived by her son Jake Riggle, and three grandchildren: Chloe, Owen and George Riggle; four sisters: Jean (Marvin) Slafter, Janet (Wayne) Stevens, Sonja (Bill) Stevens and Karen (Steve) Thorson; and one brother Doug Stevens along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband Timothy Riggle, parents Adell and Frances Stevens, and brothers Wesley and Russell Stevens.

Riley Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the Riggle family with arrangements.  Online condolences are welcome at rileyfuneralhomes.com.

Memorials can be sent to Riley Funeral Home, 800 S Main St, Chatfield, Minn. 55923.

Blessed be the memory of Chris Riggle.

My sincere sympathy to Jake and his children. Chris was so proud of her granchildren, she talked about them alot. Also, to all of Chris’s family. We had a lot of fun times and a lot of laugh’s, I will miss her.
