At the March 24 meeting of the city council, a proposal submitted by Widseth was approved to update the city’s comprehensive plan. Approval of the Widseth proposal was recommended by the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Logan Tjossem, project manager/planner at Widseth, explained in a letter that the revision of the comprehensive plan will be a benefit to residents, community leaders, and developers. He explained Widseth has participated in discussions leading up to this point with the Planning Commission and the EDA.
The city’s current plan was adopted in 2015. The updating process will include a review of the previous plan, communication with community leaders and citizens, and a testing of proposals and recommendations. Widseth will conduct public meetings during this process. Discussion and evaluation will take about a year. The fee is estimated to be about $15,000.
