At the October 13 meeting of the Chatfield City Council, three proposed ordinances were reviewed. Councilor Mike Urban was absent.
Ordinance # 480 establishing standards for installation of sidewalks in subdivisions was reviewed as recommended by the Planning & Zoning Commission. This will amend Chatfield Code. No action was taken this day. It will lay out when sidewalks are required, construction standards, and the time when sidewalks are to be constructed.
Ordinance # 482 will regulate the hours of sale and consumption of intoxicating liquor as recommended by the Public Services Committee. This will amend Chatfield Code. No action was taken this day.
Ordinance # 481 relates to residential refuse, solid waste rates, and billing as recommended by the Public Services Committee. This will amend Chatfield Code. It details the billing process for individual residences and residences which have multiple units. No action was taken this day.
Other Business in Brief
- At the August 25 meeting of the city council Jac’s Bar & Grill was fined for a liquor license violation during Western Days. Jac’s was reopened for food service at 1:20 a.m. until 3:00 a.m. twice during Western Days. Due to the fact that Jac’s has a liquor license, he was informed before Western Days that he was required to abide by the ordinance and have no customers after 1:10 a.m.
- The city council has received a letter requesting that they reconsider the fines that the council had imposed at the August meeting, a $500 fine for each of the two violations.
- Councilor Paul Novotny said liquor license rules must be followed. Jac’s has a liquor license which dictates the hours it can be open. Councilors by consensus stood by their August decision. No action was taken this day.
- The city’s ongoing street project is nearing completion.
- Sale of the old water truck was approved.
- A resolution authorizing closure of the 614 Cable Access Operations Fund and disposal of a fiscal asset (press box located on school property) on the city’s records was adopted.
- A donation of $60 was accepted from Stitch Witches Quilters to be used for library capital purchases.
- The city’s petty cash fund was increased from $150 to $400.
- A resolution was adopted accepting a donation (October) in the amount of $9,065 from the annual Chatfield Fire Department Fund Drive. A resolution was adopted accepting a donation (September) in the amount of $1,140 from the annual Chatfield Fire Department Fund Drive.
