Chatfield FFA is a multi-year MN FFA Top Ten FFA Chapter that has also received the 3 Star Chapter Award from National FFA, the highest award a chapter can receive. This award is based on the programming that a chapter offers and how it aligns with national level standards.
One of the reasons that Chatfield FFA is so successful is their FFA Crop Plot that is managed by members and alumni. This portion of the program provides the ability for the Chatfield FFA to provide Affiliate Membership to its members. This means that all students taking classes in the Agriculture Department receive FFA membership at no cost to them. This plot also helps with transportation costs, keeping activities and events free for their members to participate in. This is especially important as it provides equal opportunities for students to participate regardless of their economic backgrounds.
Students would not always be able to participate in things like the MN State FFA Convention without this type of support. The Chatfield FFA prides itself in providing hands on learning opportunities both in the classroom and outside of it. Members actively participate in the planting and harvesting of the corn crop including having an opportunity to harvest the test plot portion themselves, under professional supervision of course.
These types of hands-on activities build student confidence and help them become educated consumers as they enter adulthood.
The Chatfield FFA Crop Plot is just one of the many opportunities that our members can participate in.
