He farmed for 22 years before pursuing a career in agriculture insurance and eventually retiring at age 76.
Charles and Anna became “Winter Texans” traveling between Fountain, Minn., and McAllen, Tex. In 2010 they purchased a permanent residence near Von Ormy, Tex. They enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad. Charles was an avid collector of many things over the years, including antique farm toys, vintage farm machinery and Autumn Leaf dishes. He was outgoing, loved visiting with anyone and never met a stranger.
Charles will be privately cremated with no immediate services to be held, but the family plans a Celebration of Life near his home town to be announced at a later date.
