Charles “Chuck” Michael Pierce

December 29, 2023 by Fillmore County Journal

Chuck Pierce obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Charles “Chuck” Michael Pierce passed away suddenly on December 23, 2023, in his home.  He was 45 years old.

Chuck was born July 23, 1978, in Cresco, Iowa, to Michael and LaRita (Riehle) Pierce.

Chuck attended Notre Dame Elementary, and then attended Crestwood Jr. High and High School.  He actively participated in football and choir, and graduated in the “best class but naughtiest class of 1997.”  Chuck worked at Fareway in Cresco during high school, then after, went to Featherlite where he found his passion for welding. Following Featherlite, Chuck worked for Gene Koshmeder, where he perfected his love for building and the need to be precise. Chuck worked 15+ years at Manahan Machine Shop. After leaving Manahan’s, he continued welding independently and most recently joined the team at Preston Protein in Preston, Minn, in the maintenance department.

Chuck married Rebecca “Becky” Richardson on July 21, 2007 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco Iowa.  They had been best friends since junior high and found their way back to each other later in life when they needed each other the most.  Chuck was an amazing, loving father to Dylan, Keeaunna and Makiah and in 2017, Chuck and Rebecca completed their family by adding Kenzie.  Chuck’s family was his life. He enjoyed camping, jet skiing, boating and hunting. Most recently, Chuck fell in love with fishing, but most importantly he loved doing this with his entire family.  Chuck loved traveling, taking many trips to Florida where he created amazing memories.

Chuck is survived by his wife Becky of 16 1/2 years, children Dylan (Brittany), Keeaunna, MaKiah and Kenzie; mom LaRita Pierce, brother Tyler, grandfather Wayne (Grumpy) Halstead, father-in-law and mother-in-law Tim and Donna Fontana, father-in-law Michael Richardson, sister-in-law Jodi (Jeremiah) Tacker, sister-in-law Sarah (James) Kryger; and many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his dad and best friend Mike “Speedy Mike” Pierce, grandfather Fred Riehle Jr, grandmother Mildred Riehle, grandfather Charles Pierce, and grandmother Ellen Halstead.

Funeral service for Chuck will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Cresco Community Chapel in Cresco, Iowa, with Pastor Gordon Eggleston officiating.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home of Cresco, and will continue Friday morning from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to the start of the service.  Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Cresco, Iowa.
