January 9, 2017 by Paul Trende

Fillmore County Journal - Fillmore County Sports

A night later, in the same gym, Fillmore Central’s girls made noise.  The Falcons have a senior center with broad shoulders.  Through the first six games of the year, Kendyl Bennett wasn’t a major factor.  FC’s leading scorer from 2015-2016 (10.3 PPG) tallied a modest 43 points (7.2 PPG). Versus Mabel-Canton, she powered her way to a huge game in another tit-for-tat contest.  … [Read more...]

January 2, 2017 by Paul Trende

Three years ago, Jake Vetter took over the Kingsland girls basketball program. He pretty much used sophomores across the board. Those girls are now seniors. Gracie Schmidt (12 pts, 4-6 FGs), Lauren Buchholtz (10 pts, 3 stls), … [Read more...]

Heading into the season, the Schwichtenberg opposing coaches most strategized against when playing Lanesboro was leading scorer the past two seasons, senior guard Cole. Through two games, the three-point precision of younger brother Carson has stood out. Mabel-Canton got an antidote-needing taste. The 5’9” sophomore hit three three’s in each half and scored a career-high in … [Read more...]
