Carol Welscher obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Carol Ann (Reining) Welscher, age 82, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on December 12, 2022, at her home.

Carol was born January 14, 1940, in Caledonia to Frank and Sibyl (Saas)

Reining. She graduated from Loretto High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to Bert Welscher on September 2, 1958, and Bert passed away December 1, 1992.

Carol enjoyed farming alongside her husband and was a loving homemaker for her family. After Bert’s death, she was a cook at Caledonia Public School and St. Mary’s School. Her faith and care for others were evident by her teaching religion, visiting the sick, and being a hospice volunteer. She had a wonderful sense of humor and dearly loved her family.

She is survived by her seven children; Marci (Richard) Cordes, Sandra (Dwight) Privet, Tammy (George) Mauss, Dawn (Tim) Craig, Kelly (Jeff) Mauss, Stacy (Marc) Lumbard, and Cory (Lisette) Welscher; eight siblings: Lois Klinkhammer, Lorna Rogich, Jane (Roger) Schmitz, Ann (Kevin) Miles, Ben (Lorene) Reining, Len (Merlene) Reining, John (Joan) Reining, and Mary Jo (Gary) Schulze; 23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Mary Welscher.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, brother and sisters in-law Ray and Rosie Frank, Milton and Beverly Welscher, Willie and Mary Ann Schmitz, Maynard Welscher, Bob Rogich, and Ray Klinkhammer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 17, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Matt Wagner will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, at St. Mary’s Holy Family Hall. A rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m., and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the hall. Visitation will also be 10-10:45 a.m. Saturday morning before the service, at the hall.
