Carmona Mae Wiste, age 95, of Black Hammer, passed away on December 9, 2025, surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 2, 1930, to Julius and Emma (Vick) Haugstad, in Spring Grove. She attended Spring Grove Public school. She was a 1948 graduate.
On June 13, 1948, Carmona married Arvid Wiste. The couple farmed in rural Spring Grove, and Black Hammer Twp. until Arvid’s death on February 26, 1983. Her son Steve and his wife Lori continue to farm on the home farm.
Carmona was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church of Black Hammer and its women’s groups. She enjoyed gardening and preserving food, she was a wonderful cook. She crocheted doilies for all of her children and for church auctions, she quilted, she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and word search puzzles. But Carmona’s greatest joy was being with her family.
Survivors include her children Charles (Emily) Wiste of Spring Grove, Stanley (Sherry) Wiste of Houston, Steven (Lori) Wiste of Black Hammer, Paul (Joan) Wiste of Houston, Joyce (Scott) Onstad of Spring Grove, Judy (Alan) Roble of Spring Grove, Leighton (Chris) Wiste of Naperville, Ill., and Heidi (Donald) White of Waseca, Minn.; her grandchildren: Tony (Sarah) Wiste, Andrea (Chuck Deeney) Vinson, Shannon (Joseph) Evanson, Scott Wiste, Megan (Dan) Tanner, Sarah Wiste, Chris (Lonna) Goeden, Ben Goeden, Jordan (Christina) Goeden, Sam (Angie) Wiste, Sophie Wiste, Becky (Chris) Tuveson, Erik (Molly) Wiste, Heather Wiste, April (Brian) Pendleton, Luke (Rebecca Paulson) Onstad, Tracy (Nate) Deml, Kirstin Roble, Gordy Roble, Nathan Roble, Gina Wiste, Andrew (Lauren) White, and Alex (Jordan) White; 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, one sister, Elaine Van Minsel of Spring Grove; daughter-in-law Candis Wiste, several special sisters- and brother-in-law: Marlys Wiste, Bonnie Wiste, Joan (Wayne) Skov, Arnie and Naomi Wiste; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband Arvid, she was preceded in death by two sons, David and Sanford; her grandson Jacob Onstad, her sisters and their husbands: Hazel (Arnold) Moen, Edith (James) Nerstad, and Marjorie (Arthur) Moen; her brother Truman Haugstad, brother and sisters-in-law, Orrin Wiste, Dale Wiste, Ione (Clifford) Treangen, Betsy (Curt) Sand, and Dorothy (Odell) Treangen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Valley View Care Center for their compassionate and loving care of Carmona. To Pastor Leonard Liptack and Pastor Ed Clay, your visits meant so much to Carmona’s family, and to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who through your prayers and loving acts toward your grandma, showed her family once again, what wonderful people you are.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 12, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer, with Pastor Leonard Liptack officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30-11 a.m. at the church.
Roble Funeral Home of Spring Grove is assisting the family with arrangements.
