CALEDONIA SCHOOL BOARD Abbreviated Board Meeting Minutes February 17, 2026

The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 299, Caledonia, Minnesota, met in a regular school board meeting in the elementary building room #162. The meeting was called to order by School Board Chair Mike Peterson at 4:00 p.m.  The Pledge of Allegiance was said. The school board members present were Derek Adamson, Julie Augedahl, Chad Harms, Leigh King, Melissa Marschall, Mike Peterson.  Also present were Craig Ihrke, Nathan Boler, John Wahlstrom, Barb Meyer, Karen Schiltz, Kim Nielson, Dustin Moburg, and Steven Munderloh.  Absent were school board student representatives Samantha Peters and Phoebe Lampert and Gretchen Juan.  

Moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Leigh King to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote.  The resolution accepting donations was moved by Melissa Marschall, seconded by Julie Augedahl.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote.  Moved by Leigh King, seconded by Julie Augedahl to approve the following consent agenda items: approval of January 20, 2026, regular school board minutes; approve the electronic transfers and bills due and payable amounting to $829,163.82 along with electronic transfers from MSDLAF to Merchants Bank in the amount of $900,000.00; approve the MOU between Caledonia Chapter of the River Valley Education Association and Independent School District #299 relating to the Flexible Learning Year/Early Start for the 2026-2027 school year and potentially the 2027-2028 and 2028-2029 school years as presented; approve the maternity leave request of Rachel Staggemeyer to begin on March 23, 2026, through the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year; approve the paternity leave request of Mason Staggemeyer to begin at their birth of their child around March 23, 2026; approve the resignation of Holle Heaser effective January 30, 2026, as a full time CAPS Care Aide with thanks for her last five months of employment with our school district; ratify the hiring of Megan Larse as a full-time Middle/High School Special Education Teacher beginning the 2026-2027 school year at BA/1 at $49,789.00; ratify the hiring of Casey Withington as a full-time special education para beginning February 9, 2026, at II/6 years at $17.51 per hour; ratify the hiring of Lee Balacek as a full time CAPS Care Aide at I/4 years at $16.27 per hour beginning February 23, 2026. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Leigh King, seconded by Derek Adamson to approve the spring sport coaching contracts for the 2025-2026 school year contingent upon participation numbers in each of the sporting categories.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Chad Harms to adjourn the meeting at 4:39 p.m. Motion carried by a unanimous vote.
