The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 299, Caledonia, Minnesota, met in a regular school board meeting in the elementary building room #162. The meeting was called to order by School Board Member Derek Adamson at 5:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was said. The school board members present were Derek Adamson, Julie Augedahl, Melissa Marschall, Spencer Yohe, and student school board representatives Addison Fruechte and Samantha Peters. Also present were Craig Ihrke, Nathan Boler, John Wahlstrom, Gretchen Juan, Karen Schiltz, and Jake Hebeisen. Absent was Directors Leigh King and Mike Peterson.
Moved by Melissa Marschall, seconded by Spencer Yohe to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. The resolution accepting donations was moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Julie Augedahl. Whereupon, said Resolution was declared duly adopted. Moved by Spencer Yohe, seconded by Melissa Marschall to approve the following consent agenda items: Approval of January 21, 2025, regular school board minutes; Approve the electronic transfers and bills due and payable amounting to $1,045,145.29 along with electronic transfers from MSDLAF to Merchants Bank in the amount of $1,100,000.00; Accept the resignation of Faith Normann as a special education paraprofessional effective February 7, 2025, with thanks for her past five months of service to our school district; and Accept the resignation/retirement of Cindy Colleran as an Elementary School Administrative Assistant/MARSS Coordinator effective on her last day of June 30, 2025, with thanks for her past nineteen years of service and dedication to our school district. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Spencer Yohe, seconded by Julie Augedahl to approve the 2024-2025 spring coaching contracts contingent upon participation numbers in each of the sports. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Melissa Marschall to approve the renewal agreement between the principals’ union of Caledonia Area Public Schools and ISD #299 shall allow the superintendent to continue with the principal group so as not to be an entity of one which is not allowable by Minnesota State Statute ss352.98 and as outlined in the Minnesota State Retirement System’s Trust and Plan Documents. This agreement shall allow severance pay language to be added to the superintendent’s contract to be consistent with the current language in the principal group, so as to be compliant with the “no individual choice” rule. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Spencer Yohe, seconded by Julie Augedahl to approve the 2025-2026 school calendar as presented with no early start on the first day of school. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Melissa Marschall to adjourn the meeting at 6:19 p.m. Motion carried by a unanimous vote.
