Mitchell Reynolds and Chris Pieper each scored team points in four events as the Caledonia/Spring Grove boys who finished one point out of second place at the Lewiston-Altura Invitational Track and Field Meet on May 7. Eighth grader Fischer Wait won the 400-meter dash (personal-best 56.40 seconds), and Logan Banse won the shot put competition (42 feet, 3 inches), ran on the winning 4×100-meter relay and took second with the discus.
Reynolds was the Warriors’ leading scorer with a first-place triple jump (personal-record 37 feet, 11 inches), a third-place long jump, a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash and fifth place in the 100-meter dash. Pieper had the winning high jump (6 feet, 2 inches), a fourth place in triple jump and fifth in long jump while also running on the second-place 4×400-meter relay.
Joining Banse on the winning 4×100 relay were Reid Bjerke plus sophomores Hunter Holland and Eric Mauss. Running with Pieper on the runner-up 4×4 foursome were Wait, Bjerke and Holland. Bjerke also ran second in the 100M dash (personal-record 11.65) with Holland placing fourth and Reynolds fifth.
The highest-scoring event for C/SG was the 400M dash with sophomore Caleb Conniff running third behind first-place Wait. Junior Blake Morrow had a third-place and personal-record discus throw (107 feet, 6 inches) and a fifth-place shot put.
All four team points for the Warrior girls came from freshman sprinter Logan Koepke who ran third at 200 meters and fifth at 100 meters.
