Sports seasons are about ebbs and flows. Lanesboro’s girls experienced that the week of Monday February 7.  Bret Klaehn’s group went 2-1 with wins over R-P and L-O, a loss to GM.  Versus the Trojans, stars did work.  Burro junior center Kaci Ruen had a double-double (27 pts, 12-14 FGs, 3-4 FTs, 10 rebs).  She made more shots than her teammates (10 of 42 > 24%) combined.  Trojan junior forward Kaylee Ruberg had a double-double (24 pts, 10-19 FGS, 12 rebs).  She made more shots than the rest of her teammates (10 of 43 > 23%) combined.  Lanesboro generally led the game (including 27-20 at halftime).  A close contest had seven ties up to 39-39.  R-P led 42-41 in the second half, but Lanesboro scored 16 of the final 23 points for the 57-49 victory.  Brielle Ruen (13 pts, 7 rebs, 4 stls) helped the Burro cause.  Ellie Ekern (12 pts) helped for R-P.  The Burros then trekked to GM for a non-conference battle between first and second place clubs in opposite divisions.  The Larks used a 10-0 first half run to turn an 18-15 edge into a 28-15 lead. They then had control in posting a 56-44 win.  Lexy Foster (18 pts, 4-5 threes, 6-8 FGs) led the way, with help from McKenna Hendrickson (14 pts, 6-9 FGs), and River Landers (12 pts, 4-4 FGs, 4-4 FTs, 8 rebs).  Jessie Schreiber (15 pts, 8 rebs) and K-Ruen (11 pts, 7-10 FTS, 10 rebs, 4 asts) paced the Burros.  Ella Cambern chipped in 8 points. GM out-shot the Burros from the field, 48% (20 of 41) to 29% (15 of 52), from deep, 38% (8 of 21) to 19% (3 of 16), and from the line, 100% (8 of 8) to 69% (11 of 16).  Lanesboro wrapped up the week beating LeRoy-Ostrander 75-46, clinching a share of the SEC East.  The halftime score had Lanesboro up just 33-28. K-Ruen went for 43 points (17-27 FGs, 9-12 FTs), 19 rebounds, and 4 assists!  Schreiber (18 pts, 5-6 FTs, 14 rebs) also had a double-double.  Skyler Check chipped in 8 points.  L-O was led by Benita Nolt (14 pts, 9 rebs), Sam Volkart (12 pts, 5 rebs), and Jordan Runde (10 pts, 7 rebs, 4 asts).  Lanesboro hit 22 of 32 free throws (59%) to L-O’s 5 of 19 (26%).  The Burros improved to 9-2, 16-7.  L-O fell to 2-10, 3-20.
