Boys golf was on display at the Southeast Conference Meet. Krissy Overland’s Lanesboro Burros (362) bested nearest foe Southland (376) for the league title, with Kingsland (403) taking third, G-E (426) fourth, GMLO (427) fifth, and Houston (554) sixth (of six complete teams). The Burros didn’t have anyone in the top three. They placed five guys in the top eleven. Kaden Stettler (4th > 87), Jack Brogle (5th > 88), Clay Schwichtenberg (7th > 92), Reece Benson (9th > 95), and Dayton Haugen (11th > 99) made it a team effort. GMLO’s Taylor Glynn was meet medalist. The senior shot a 77 to top nearest foe Cohen Wiste (82) of Southland. With seven pars, Glynn was a strong one-over par on his first nine. He shot four-over his second nine. He finished five-over at the par-72-Cedar River Golf Course. Kingsland’s Nick Eickhoff placed third (85). Houston’s Ethan Knutson (94) took eighth. Knight Kaden Rath (100) finished 12th to round out the Journal 11 guys in the top 15. Thirty-two chaps competed. Given the SEC regular season race was a three-way tie between the Burros, Kingsland, and Southland (all 8-2), this meet was used as the tie-breaker. Lanesboro’s boys are the regular season and SEC Meet champions. The girls event had just two full teams, as Lanesboro (520) downed G-E (647). Burro Chloe Schnebly (108) was the medalist by 16 strokes over Southland’s Claire Nelsen (124). Lanesboro’s Ariana Huntington (125) and Jessie Schreiber (131) took third and fourth. Houston’s Hannah Weichert (135) took fifth to round out the top five. Just 17 girls competed at the event held outside Adams.
