Lanesboro is ready for a weekend of fun as Buffalo Bill Days returns July 30 through August 2 with sports tournaments, live entertainment, family activities, local cultural events, fireworks, food, and the ever-popular Grand Parade.
Buffalo Bill Days is more than just a weekend of events,” explained Kristen Asleson, Buffalo Bill Days committee chair. “To the committee and residents, it’s a celebration of what makes our community special. It brings neighbors together, welcomes visitors to Lanesboro, and creates memories that families will cherish for years to come.”
This year’s celebration features two new additions: a pickleball tournament and a bean bag tournament, which are sure to be a hit.
Festive goers can also take part in or cheer on a full lineup of competitions, including a co-ed youth volleyball tournament, youth fishing tournament, buffalo roam 5K 1 mile family fun run and walk event, men’s softball tournament, best-shot golf tournament, and co-ed adult volleyball.
Music will fill the weekend, with Charlie Warner performing at the gazebo on Friday, the Firemen’s Street Dance featuring Red Dirt Road on Friday night, and a free concert by Whiskey on Saturday night.
Families will find plenty to enjoy throughout the celebration. Activities for younger visitors include the family movie night in the park on Thursday evening, a pedal pull, bouncy houses, jumbo yard games, and more. Fireworks will take place on Saturday evening.
Visitors can also enjoy a variety of local cultural events, including the farmers market, bingo, car cruise-in, Hwy. 30 church service, marketplace, beer and brat tent, and History Porch Talks with Steve Harris, “Buffalo Bill’s BFF: Dr. Frank (White Beaver) Powell.”
Buffalo Bill will make an appearance during the Grand Parade on Sunday, August 2, at 1:30 p.m. This year’s Grand Marshal is the Lanesboro Public Library. They are being recognized for 100 years of service to the Lanesboro community.
Food vendors will offer a wide variety of options, including pizza, fries, strips, corn dogs, fried pickles, burgers, steak tips, cheese curds, onion rings, duck wontons, specialty lattes, dirty sodas, Lotus Energy, dye-free kids’ drinks, baked goods, Mexican cuisine, cotton candy, kettle corn, flavored popcorn, chicken teriyaki, steak teriyaki, shrimp teriyaki.
