Bruce Wingert Obituary - Fillmore County Journal

Bruce A. Wingert, 70, of Fountain, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his children.

Bruce Anthony Wingert was born August 30, 1951, in Osage, Iowa, to F J and Beverly (Eberhardt) Wingert.  He graduated from Preston-Fountain High School in 1970.  On July 31, 1977, he married Tracy Garden in Charles City, Iowa.

Bruce was a lifelong farmer, starting as a little boy on his parents’ farm, raising his children on the farm, then farming with his children. He enjoyed snowmobiling, horseback riding, and spending time with his wife, children and then grandchildren. He was also involved with the Carmonia Cruisers 4-H club and the Fountain United Methodist Church. He was known for his sense of humor, his quick wittedness.

Bruce is survived by his children: Jim (Randi) of Harmony, Loni, and Matt (April) of Fountain; eight grandchildren, two brothers, Jerry (Shirley) Wingert, and Bill (Janeen) Wingert, both from Preston; two sisters, Nancy Hartley of New Albin, Iowa, and Louise (Joe) Marquardt of Spring Valley; and multiple nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents F J and Beverly, his wife Tracy, his in-laws Lillian and James Garden, and brother in-law Tom Hartley.

Funeral service for Bruce will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at United Methodist Church in Preston.  Visitation will be Monday, March 14, 2022, at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield from 5-7 p.m. and one hour before services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fountain Lutheran Cemetery or Seasons Hospice of Rochester.

Online condolences are welcome at rileyfuneralhomes.com.
